yuri.army is online. the structure is in place.

next: a personal introduction.

so, who am i?

my pseudonym is Vaeshi. i am a full stack developer and a trans woman.

you may be wondering why the name yuri.army.

honestly? it's simple.

girls loving girls is powerful. tenderness deserves defense. connection deserves structure.

next : a rant.

discord. let's talk about it. it's a mess, a dumpster fire, and many more words i cant think of.

to begin, the platform is a cesspool of toxicity, harrassment and abuse. it's a breeding ground for hate and bigotry.

the company itself is a joke. they have no true regard for the safety of their users, and have repeatedly failed to protect their userbase.

but the final straw for me was the recent drama surrounding the ID verification on the platform. it's a complete invasion of user privacy under the guise of "teen safety"

discord was going to use k-id for id verification, which is still bad, but now it's worse. discord has moved to a new provider for id verification, Persona.

persona is a company funded by several venture capital firms, most notably "Founders Fund", which is a firm co-founded by Peter Theil, y'know, of Palantir.

many people don't see an issue with it, but the fact of the matter is they are using a company with ties to mass surveillance, knowingly.

there will be no mass discord exodus because most people on the platform do not care about their privacy, they have a "lay down and die" mentality.

"oh but facebook, instagram, betting sites, etc already have my data so why should i care?" so, because these companies have your data, should you just tweet your ssn?

the fact that people have this mentality is what allows these companies to get away with it. if we all just cared a little bit more about our privacy, maybe this wouldn't be a thing to begin with.

either way, poison your data if you use these platforms, provide incorrect demographics and other information. care about your privacy, it's yours. treat it as such.
